The zebra danio are typical of all danios and are egg scatterers, they will show no parental cares once spawning has completed. Keep the breeding tank dimly lit and use larger grained gravel for the substrate to allow the eggs to slip into the spaces provided by the gravel preventing the parent fish from eating them as soon as they are laid. Leopard danios have a brassy gold coloration covered with a large number of small irregularly shaped, dark-blue or black spots. This is very different than the four horizontal stripes which identify the zebra danio. All danios possess two pairs of barbels.

Breeding Zebra Danios

2003/7/24I am currently breeding Zebra Danios and I have a couple of questions. I found a really good site but then it turned out that modelling my fry's life cycle is not even close to his. My first two fry are 24 and 22 days old, their eyes have become much bigger, they are wider, about 2mm longer

Zebra danios are not what you would call fussy eaters and will eat nearly anything that you offer them. In the wild they tend to mainly feed on small crustaceans, insects, worms and algae. This diet should be reproduced as closely as possible in the home aquarium, and this can be accomplished through feeding them a high-quality flake food, and occasional feedings of live or frozen foods.

My zebra danio is just laying on the bottom of the tank in one spot. I have 2 long fin zebra danios and the other is doing just great. I have a 20 gallon tank and am in the process of doing a fish in cycle. This is my first fish tank (besides a tiny betta one) my tank has

A general rule is to stay away from species with an aggressive reputation or a mouth big enough to eat an Oto whole. This still leaves plenty of species to choose from. Some popular choices include Angelfish, Cherry Barbs, Corydoras Catfish, Danios, Dwarf Gourami, Guppies, Harlequin Rasbora, Mollies, Tetras, and Zebra Loaches.

2009/5/21I have a 46 gallon tank with 2 corys, 8 zebra danios, and 5 rummy nose tetras. I'm going to be on vacation for a couple weeks this summer, and am concerned about my corys getting enough food to eat. The concern stems from the fact that my zebra danios are absolute gluttons and eat everything they possibly can.

I did an experiment to see how the betta would get along with my zebra danios, and this is why (by my experiment) I believe zebra danios may or may not live with bettas . I know that some might say that 10 gallons is too small for 6 zebra danios with a betta, but this was just a temporary experiment and the fish are back in their own homes.
